We only select network providers who have an established track record for providing excellant service and connectivity worldwide:
- Level(3) Communications - one of the largest and best connected internet infrastructures with a large presence in the USA.
- NTT/Verio - again, one of the best connected networks worldwide along with a large presence in Asia.
- Datahop - excellant performance with a growing presence and access to Sprint, another of the worlds largest networks.
- Cogent Communications - provide a large backbone in the USA and Europe (primarily used as a backup)
CAPACITY
With connections to three of the world's largest providers and one hop connectivity to a fourth, even during peak periods we utilise less than 50 per cent of our available network capacity - a standard we aim to maintain long-term.
Should any of our providers experience problems, we have enough network capacity to continue operating at full capacity, fault-free.
SERVERS
Only the BEST components are utilised, including:
- Rack mount cases - Would you use your family car to enter an endurance race? Likewise, we don't use desktop cases for servers running 24-7!
- Tyan Motherboards - Well-respected and used by companies such as Sun for their own motherboards. The motherboards are laid out for optimal cooling efficiency, resulting in reliable, energy-efficient performance.
- AMD Opteron CPUs - High-performance, low-power, providing excellent value for money.
- Adaptec RAID Cards - The leaders in unified SAS/SATA-based hardware RAID. We only use reliable hardware RAID, which enables us to hot-swap a drive should it fail, ensuring your server stays safely online during drive replacement.
- Passive Cooling - Each CPU is cooled by a large copper heatsink with several fans forcing air over it, if one fan fails the others will speed up a little and take over. Passive = Reliable.
- 1st Party Memory - We don't use unbranded generic memory/RAM. By using 1st Party memory we get the pick of the memory chips and circuit boards they are fixed to - no scrimping on cost (which can occur with 3rd party memory chips - sometimes called Major on 3rd - meaning major name chips, on a 3rd party circuit board).
